Transition Invitational DJ Jam, early summer 2009
Posted: Jul 5, 2009
"Kyle's always had the vision of having these jumps on Transition Bikes' property, so after a year of planning and moving a lot of dirt we've started to get somewhere. We've spent a bunch of time on our 'lunch breaks' digging, shaping, and watering the backyard jumps. Lines would get cut, ridden, and recut until we came up with something decent. It was great to finally officialize the whole thing with a backyard DJ Jam."
Lots of pictures inside, so enjoy!

The whole thing came together pretty quickly. We had a company meeting to decide the logistics of the event, and the only time that would work was in 2 weeks! Mike Metzger was put in charge of the event and he did most everything from inviting the bros to bargain shopping the rocking sound system.
I didn't get there until noon, and apparently Casey Groves and Sam Dueck had already been jumping for hours. I was most stoked to finally see these guys throwing down in person, but there were lots of other guys I've never met that were really good as well. Transition employees in action included Kyle, Metzger, Cam, and myself. Our factory riders Lars Sternberg and JS came out to flow the jumps, too. There was a rowdy group of BMX'ers that were trying new tricks and among them was Joe, who landed his first 720 to dirt as well as his first 40 back flips. Joe decided to try out a mountain bike and flipped it huge first try! We fried the amp on the sound system not even halfway into the comp. We ate all the burgers and drank all the beer! Overall it was a good time with bikes and good people, riding and BBQ'ing, cranking some tunes, and enjoying some sunshine on the new jumps.
Enjoy the pics & vid!

How many other bike companies have the owners help build the jumps, invite a ton of people over, AND throw down?!! Great write up and pics!!
Amazing video. Although I thought bmx were just for concert/urban stuff, not dirt. Guess I thought wrong.
